(More customer reviews)While I'm confident Norton Utilities has extended the lives of my PCs over the years, Symantec's 7.0 version for Macintosh is grossly antiquated. After spending [money] on software I was assured was compatible with my brand new 12" Mac PowerBook, I discovered following installation that I needed to boot from the Norton Utilities CD-ROM to repair "serious" boot drive problems and to access the program's diagnostic features. Only after repeated failures, a live update, and a thorough search of the fine print within Symantec's support database did I learn that Norton Utilities 7.0 is INCOMPATIBLE with both the 12" and 17" models of the G4 PowerBook (both operating Mac OS-X Jaguar). If you own either of these Macintosh models, don't waste your money on Norton Utilities 7.0. Wait for either 8.0, or the next generation of Micromat Drive 10 or Disk Warrior. Unfortunately, current versions of those programs, too, are outdated to function effectively on the March 2003 12" or 17" PowerBooks.

Norton Utilities for Macintosh 7.0 is a software solution for Mac disk repair, disk optimization, and data recovery. The easy-to-use Norton Disk Doctor can find and repair disk problems with the click of a button. You can even run it from the bootable program CD when your hard drive won't restart. Speed Disk optimizes your drive by defragmenting files, and by placing frequently used files in an optimal location for faster access. You can also use Speed Disk to create custom optimization profiles for games, MP3 files, digital video, and other specialized uses.
Norton FileSaver periodically takes a snapshot of your hard drive's file directories, enabling Volume Recover to rebuild the directories and recover data after a catastrophic event. Norton FileSaver also keeps track of deleted files so that UnErase can examine the disk directories and Norton FileSaver logs to help you restore lost or damaged files. And now Norton Disk Doctor, Norton FileSaver, and UnErase have been created especially for Mac OS X systems.
